Volunteer Disability Aids Engineer.

Remap South Herts

Remap Hertfordshire South are the local branch of Remap, a national organisation which harnesses the skills of volunteer engineers and other problem-solvers to provide innovative solutions to everyday challenges encountered by people with disabilities. We are always on the lookout for volunteer engineers who can assess the users' requirements and design, implement and install a solution either single-handedly or in collaboration with other Remap engineers.

Detailed Description

Remap Hertfordshire South are the local branch of Remap, a national organisation which harnesses the skills of volunteer engineers and other problem-solvers to provide innovative solutions to everyday challenges encountered by people with disabilities. Recent projects have included extension handles to assist when opening and closing windows, an easy-fit wheelchair tray, and a child’s tricycle for a little girl who has cerebral palsy. All of these were provided free of charge to the end user. We are always on the lookout for volunteer engineers and people with good DIY skills, who can assess the users' requirements and design, implement and install a solution either single-handedly or in collaboration with other Remap engineers. It's a challenging, rewarding role and you will receive all the necessary support from our organisation.

Why these skills are required

A typical volunteer is a keen wood or metalworker who has access to workshop facilities. An awareness of the needs of people with disabilities is essential, along with the inter-personal skills necessary to establish client's detailed requirements and the technical skills to design and implement a solution either alone or in collaboration with other engineers.
