Retail and Trading Van Driver’s Mate Volunteer - Berkhamsted based

Join our friendly team of volunteer drivers and mates to distribute goods from our distribution office to our 32 shops in west Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
Main tasks • accompanying the van driver on the van run, helping to load, unload and handle donated and new clothes and items in bags and boxes between our R&T hub and Ecommerce centre in Berkhamsted and our shops and offices • we will ask you to join a WhatsApp group for communication around rotas and changes you need to be aware of Morning volunteers will be delivering and and distributing stock between the shops. Afternoon volunteers will be visiting the shops to pick up their "rags" - those items that are not good enough quality to sell - and bring them back to Berkhamsted. This is a valuable source of income for us which is maximised by having it collected from just one place. What are we looking for? • an ability to move and handle heavy boxes and bags around the R&T hub and Ecommerce centre in Berkhamsted and our shops and in and out of the delivery vehicle – you will need to wear footwear that protects your feet at all times – no sandals please • someone who is personable and polite as in this role you will be representing Rennie Grove Peace in the community • someone who is sociable and will enjoy engaging with our retail teams, both staff and fellow volunteers Training and support • there will be a named line manager who will provide ongoing support • there will be some mandatory training that you will need to complete at the start of your volunteering with us and then periodically afterwards as refresher training • your line manager will go through an individual support plan with you to make sure they are aware of any health issues or other issues that we need to be aware of to keep you safe • your line manager will organise training specific to your role What you need to know • you will complete a volunteer application form, and we will need to see a form of ID before you get started • at Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care we strive to continuously demonstrate our values. The team at Berkhamsted are a really sociable and friendly bunch, and you will get great support from them. This is an active role that gets you out and about meeting lots of people, and you will be helping to make sure that we maximise the income from every donation to help local patients and their families.
