Until everyone has someone. Just one hour a week can ignite the spark in a young person’s life.
We are a 1:1, school-based mentoring charity supporting care-experienced young people and those facing disadvantage to realise their potential through education. As a volunteer mentor with MCR Pathways, you’ll meet with a young person in school for just one hour a week. No previous experience is needed — we provide full training and ongoing support. All that’s required is your time, patience, and willingness to listen. By showing up consistently, you’ll help unlock a young person’s confidence, aspirations, and future opportunities. 📍 Current areas of urgent need: Hemel Hempstead, Tring.

No specific qualifications or experience are required. What matters most is patience, empathy, reliability, and the willingness to listen and encourage a young person.
As a mentor, you’ll make a life-changing difference to a young person. You’ll also gain valuable skills in communication, listening, and coaching, as well as the personal reward of seeing a young person grow in confidence and achieve their potential. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Mentors commit to meeting a young person for one hour per week, during the school day (between 9am and 3pm), for at least one academic year. This consistency is vital in building trust and supporting the young person to achieve their potential.

Astley Cooper: approx. 10 minutes by bus from Hemel Hempstead town centre, with nearby stops and on-site parking. Longdean: accessible by local bus from Hemel town centre (approx. 15 minutes), with parking on-site. Tring: easily reached from Tring town centre by local buses and walking routes; limited parking available on-site.
