Our IPU care support volunteers help the clinical team to meet the needs of our patients, families and visitors.
Our short stay Inpatient Unit (IPU) provides symptom, pain and medication management for patients dealing with a life limiting illness, as well as end-of-life care for those in the last days of their life. This important role supports the clinical team to support patients, families and visitors. Main tasks • Assist with serving of meals and drinks • Assist with patients’ personal hygiene and toilet care needs under the direction of qualified staff • To work with other members of the IPU team in general tasks to ensure a quality holistic service • Ensure that patient information is passed onto staff ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times • Assist professionals with therapeutic treatments and activities • Be willing to support other parts of the Patient Services department as required • Attend training and supervisory sessions as required
