As well as contributing to discussions and decisions made, the purpose of the secretary role is to support the committee by taking notes at their meetings (aided by a recording if required) and then produce minutes which are distributed to the other committee members. There is also a possibility of being involved with obtaining quotes for maintenance work as well as applying for grants, including filling in application forms, when the committee see opportunities to apply for them.
The Headquarters committee's purpose is to make decisions on the management and use of 2 buildings owned and used by Girlguiding in Hemel Hempstead. You will be a member of and supported by the committee and attend meetings in Hemel Hempstead, held on a termly basis. It is expected that you will need to commit to 3-4 hours per term. Secretaries can be any adult over 18 years old: male or female. Ideally, you should be willing to become a member of Girlguiding (No cost involved). Girlguiding is the leading charity for girls and young women in the UK. Our incredible volunteers contribute more than ten million hours to guiding every year. By being part of Girlguiding you will be expected to learn about their policies and Code of Conduct and be an ambassador for the values of Girlguiding. You will also be required to complete a basic form of Safe Space training online. Am I right for the role? Supporting roles in Girlguiding provide essential help to volunteers who work directly with girls and young women.
