Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care
Rennie Grove Peace’s Compassionate Cafés are drop-in sessions in a local venue or with a local partner. They provide a space for members of our community who have been affected by any type of loss and would like to come along for a friendly chat and a chance to meet others over a cup of tea. We are looking for volunteers to help provide a friendly and welcoming space for anyone who chooses to drop in for a chat.
Compassionate Communities Group Volunteers are trained local people who offer their companionship, time, social and emotional support to people towards the end of life due to age or illness and/or people who are suffering with a loss in a group setting like a Community Hub and/or Compassionate Café. They are ambassadors for Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care in their local communities and are committed to the Compassionate Neighbours social movement to help reduce loneliness and social isolation. All volunteers take part in a structured training programme. Once completed they are asked to support a local Community Hub and/or Compassionate Café. The areas we particularly need volunteers are: • Borehamwood • Harpenden • Bushey (Autumn 2025) - Potters Bar

A desire to help others A good listener Reliable, trustworthy and flexible Compassionate and empathic Patient and caring Ability to understand & commit to the boundaries and values of Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care Must be 18+ years Enthusiasm to work as part of a team to help develop the Community Hub and/or Compassionate café
Reimbursement of travel expenses, up to an agreed maximum amount A named line manager who will provide on-going support and supervision Training and development opportunities Access to monthly volunteer meetings and social events Engage with and connect with people in the local community Learn new skills
Minimum of 2 hours a month with some flexibility
